adding value to floors?

Which adds more value to my kitchen: Slate floor tiles or ceramic floor tiles?
stone countertops or quartz countertops?

    Countertops – stone gets a slight edge, if at all
    Floors – It depends on the quality of the tile, but again roughly equal

    For most people, they all look nice and will add good value but just keep in mind a few things:

    Flooring: Slate is a rock and will, over time, have a tendancy to chip and crack. Some slate may be porous and may stain in the kitchen. On a positive note, it is a fabricated product and therefore very straight so narrow grout line or intricate designs can work well.

    Ceramic is a fired clay product and is very hard. It wears very well but because it is fired the tiles may be slightly warped or irregular.

    Stone countertops are porous and will stain. They must be sealed on a regular basis. Quartz tops require no maintenance whatsoever and look very similar to stone. Quartz is also uniform throughout so it is stronger than stone which may have weak spots.

    If looks are your goals, pick what you like. If you like to sell the details, ceramic and quartz are better products.
