Can anyone recommend a great vacuum for tile & wood floors?

My old vacuum is dead. I bought a new one but it just picked up the dirt and spit it out again. Not good for tile floors. I have no carpets in my home. I need a vacuum that works great on tile/wood floors. Any recommendations?

    I really like my Oreck upright vacuum for all flooring surfaces. For years, I burned through vacuums like they were going out of style — dog households are tough on vacuums — then I got the Oreck in 2001 and have had no problems with it at all.

    The eSeries Rainbow! It is excellent for picking up dirt/dust/hair off of wood & tile floors. We have one and use it for all of our Cleaning Jobs and our own home.     An Upright is not made for your situation. An upright is made for primarily carpets. Canisters work way better on bare floors than uprights, because they are able to get under and around everything with ease. The Miele S4 Sirius has a great floor brush which is made for wood floors and it does a great job cleaning up. The parquet floorbrush is specially designed for hard surfaces as it features delicate bristles for a thorough yet gentle clean. It has a 90° rotation and is exceptionally agile at cleaning around obstacles such as table legs etc. It also has huge holes on the bottom so it does not push the dirt, it sucks it up. The vacuum itself has the new Vortex Motor which is super powerful but the machine itself is super quiet even on its highest setting. Miele makes wonderful products that are made to last 20 to 25 years and they come with a 7 year motor warranty and 1 year all parts and labor. I got my Miele from Mr. Vac and Mrs. Sew because they always have their Miele vacuums on phone special (like 70 dollars or so) and they are a wonderful company to deal with.     I own a cleaning business and I use the Hoover Windtunnel 3639 Canister vac with the hard floor attachment. I love it. I have had it about a year and clean about 40 houses a week. Hoovers are very easy to fix too.

    You might think I am crazy but I have laminate throughout my home and after trial and error bought a Eureka The Boss Super Lite. It is a small lightweight vacuum ( bagless) and it works great. Doesn’t have any problem picking up sand / dog hair etc. It was about $30.00 at K mart. I have had it almost a year now and haven’t had any problems with it. I have had expensive vacuums in the past and after time they seem to loose suction…not the case with this little machine. The only thing I do is use the setting for carpet not floors and it picks up everything in its path.
