Can Marble be preferred for bathroom and kitchen floors ?

I want some suggestions regarding the kind of stone I should prefer for my bathroom and kitchen floors.I have a fascination for Marble , but I don;t know whether I should use it for bathroom and kitchen floors! I would love to hear from anyone.Thanks!

    Marble is lovely. It is much more expensive though, than ceramic tile. If you can easily afford it, go for it. You might consider Travertine, it may be a bit cheaper than marble and more durable.

    Marble is not proper for kitchen applications, due to several facts:
    - It absorbs liquids: if you spill oil or any other product on it, and you don’t clean it up (leave it on the marble for more than a few hours) it’ll absorb and probably be stained forever.
    - If you spill lemon juice, orange juice, wine, coke or use a aggressive detergent you’ll damage the polished surface.
    - It scratches very easily
    A kitchen is a very aggressive place for marble and the darker it is the easier it is to see the damages…
    In bathrooms, I figure it’s acceptable.
    Marble is beautiful but requires care and maintenance.
