Can you sell your installed Granite Countertops?

In my kitchen I have granite countertops that are fairly large in size, I was wondering if there is any way that I can sell them? And if there is, how would I go about doing it.

    Sure you can, but I don’t know why you would want to lower the value of your home by doing this. Granite sells new for about $150 per square foot, depending on where you live. You won’t get near that much by selling it. Most granite is secured to the counter tops with silicone, so you will need to cut through it to release the tops from the counters. It is also very heavy.

    I’m assuming you’re planning on replacing them with something else but removing them without harming the cabinets is possible. Do you know how to remove them? Anyhoo…

    Your counter-tops are cut specifically to fit your counters but you may find someone who is interested in cutting them down for a piece of furniture or bath. Advertise them in your area on Graigslist… list the dimensions and what you want to get for them. You might be able to sell them for $10-15 a square foot.

    Due to the housing bust, there’s a lot of surplus materials and cheap installations on the market right now. Remnants are sometimes free from slab fab shops. Both of which mean, you probably won’t get a lot for your granite.

    It’s deceivingly heavy too, so it isn’t something you can strap to the hood of your car and haul to the flea market. A 4×4 granite island counter top can weigh over 300 pounds.

    I have absolutely NO IDEA why you would want to do this!!! EVERYONE aspires to have granite. There is nothing that you could replace it with that would add more value to your home. To resell it, you would get a fraction of its worth, as it would have to be sold as cut up remnants. Your granite countertop is an INVESTMENT.

    Nothing is as durable as granite – or as beautiful. It’s tough and extremely handsome making granite a terrific choice for kitchen counters and floors. It resists heat and scorching and is almost impossible to nick and scratch.
