Negotiate on Price of Countertops

I’m heading to Lowes or Home Depot to buy and have them install countertops– most likely solid surface. Are the prices etched in stone or can you negociate? Is there a less expensive source than Lowes / Home Depot? Any tips on the purchase of the countertop and installation service? Thanks everyone.

Things occasionally go on sale – so a good salesperson may negotiate some. Especially if they get installation contract. Inexperienced salesperson may say the price is what the price is.

Look at overstock.com see if they have what your looking for. Don’t forget shipping cost, Lowes / Home Depot may wave freight for larger orders. From overstock.com you’ll probably have to hire your own handyman to install.
