Matching a Dark Gray Countertop with Tan Walls, Stone Backsplash and Wood Floor

We have a dark gray countertop, black sink and appliances, wood floor,old mahogany table and buffet. The walls are now too dark, painted rust. My husband wants to paint tan walls and put up tile backslpash which will be stone, neutral color. Tan and gray, just not sure, I am thinking more of a taupe which is in the counter top. Any suggestions?

    Taupe may appear a little cold. A tan that is warm will set off the other natural colors.You could blend the pallett with pewter cabinet pulls and perhaps a wrought iron accent. Try going to a paint store and pick samples of the counter ,cabinet and wall colors.Also look at fireplaces as they often incorporate wood,slate and nuetral stones. Be sure to prime for a true color, the rust could alter the shade.Lots of luck,CC

    The gray would be okay, but when you pick tile for the backsplash see if you could get a few charcoal or gray tiles mixed in to tie it all together.

    I had a dark gray faux stainless steel counter, and had maple cabinets, a cherry floor, and the walls tan.

    I used slate tiles for the backsplash that had tans, grays, rusts, all mixed together.
