Manufactured stone countertops – cost and your experience (do you like it)?

We are thinking of getting new countertops for our kitchen and it seems like the manufactured stone (like Silestone) is the easiest to care for and most resistant – at least on paper. If you have manufactured stone countertops what is your experience with it? Is it heat and stain resistant? Is it better than granite? How much did it cost to install? Thanks.

    Hello,
    I had a few months ago, granite installed in my 1978 kitchen. I love it and I also would like to share with you that all granite isnt a pain to take care of. The type I bought is sealed with a guarantee for the next 15 years and will need no special care. I would like to say, as far as upgrades go, granite in my opinion as a certified interior decorator is still the most desired countertop upgrade requested and this will always be a great selling point if you should want to sell your home at a later date. Not to say the other choices are great they are so I can understand your plight. Just wanted to tell you not to be afraid of granite as they have a brand offered by Lowes called Sensa, and it is sealed when you purchase it and will stay beautiful and trouble free for years.

    Yes had it installed 18 months ago. Fabulous, easy care and does not need to be resealed by the homeowner. Best addition to my home I ever made. We contracted through Home Depot for the installation and the countertop happen to be on sale so that was a bonus.
    Mine is a U shape and the two small seams are invisible.

    i always recommend natural products having to have thoroughly investigated all counter material nothing is more durable and adds more value to your home .you can take a pan out of the oven and place it directly on granite -don’t try it with Corian,silestone or zodiac.i replaced Corian counter tops in both my home and office with granite and quartz.the where really dulled and worn looking even though they were only a few years old .do a price comparison and i think you’ll be surprised that they’re about the same if you go to a stone yard sometimes even less
