My granite countertops stain easily, what should I do to prevent them from staing?

I purchase shivakasi yellow granite countertops and it easily stains.
I really have only used them once, Thanksgiving and they were installed the first of November. If I set anything on them I have to be very careful, nothing hot, warm, cold glass of ice.

    Yes, seal it with a stone sealer.

    All types of granite, marble, and travertine will stain easily because natural stone is porous. Stains will enter the pores and stay there. A stone sealer is a clear liquid which fills up the pores so that stains can’t go in.

    Follow the directions of whatever sealer you get. Some have different directions, but in general, spray on, wait a few minutes, wipe off, and then buff to a shiny finish with a clean soft cloth.

    This procedure will have to be repeated about once a year or once every two years depending on the sealer.

    To test if the stone needs to be sealed again, pour a little water on the stone and let it sit for a while. Wipe off the water. If the stone is darker due to the water, then it’s time to seal it again.

    polyurethane will eventually yellow (although with yellow granite, you may not care) but there are products specifically made to seal granite countertops. I’ve shown one in the link below, but you can probably find a less expensive alternative at your local Home Depot or Lowe’s. The important thing with granite is to find a sealant which will still allow the surface to "breathe" and to make sure that all of the stains have been removed before sealing. Removing sealant may leave your countertops looking streaky. Sealing is tricky, so read ahead and make sure you know what you’re doing before you start
