What were castle floors made of?

I’ve always wondered if castles who were built of stone had stone flooring on the inside too. . . or did/do they have wood or what? (the questions here being: did stone castles have stone flooring?) lol

    Yes, they had stone floors, but they could also be of just beaten-down earth. Upper floors would have wooden floors. (Carpets were expensive in those days, so they were mainly used for wall hangings or laid over tables. Rushes were used on the floors, and rush matting. Herbs were often strewn on the rushes for sweetness, and they were periodically swept away and replaced with fresh.)

    Either stone or brick mostly. And they still are!
    You would probably enjoy a cruise down the Rhine River. Did it back in the 70′s with my dad and sis. Let me put it this way: I was sick and tired of seeing castles.lol
