What's the easiest/best way to effectively clean tile floors?

Our house has mostly tile floors. Mops really just slosh dirty water around. Does anyone have a better way to clean a large amount of tile flooring that really leaves them clean? Are there any machines out there that can help? Something you’ve used yourself. Thank you!

    I know you said "used yourself" but I have seen demos of those steam mops. They appear to work very well and the theory is good. After all nothing kills germs like a blast of heat or sunlight. Also if you’ve ever noticed how boiling water always cleans dishes better than warm water and a bit of detergent. They have a machine-washable microfiber head which is very good for picking up dirt, and you don’t keep re-using the dirty bucket. I have been wanting to get one to try it out, but I haven’t. I think they are about $200 AU

    I really really think the most effective way of cleaning tile floors is to get down on your hands and knees and do it. I fill a bucket of very hot water, having added some Flash (am sure you will have something similar). Then I put my rubber gloves on, and with a fairly thick cloth just wash the floor. As I go over, a bit at a time, I will tightly squeeze out the cloth so that I can nearly dry the bit I have just washed. If the water gets very dirty (which it doesn`t much, because I was the kitchen floor every other day). then I would just get another bucket load. While I`m on my hands and knees I can also do the bit under the cupboards, and the skirting boards. It may take a bit longer than with a mop, but honestly the results are sooo much better!!

    We clean tile and grout for a living and we advise our customers to use microfiber mops to maintain their tile floors. Of course, the grout is a different story and more on that in a minute.

    We know that using a traditional mop just sloshes dirty water around and doesn’t really clean. Microfiber mops are different. First of all they actually scrub and capture the dirt cleaning much better than a traditional mop can. Secondly, they are much lighter and make cleaning your floor much easier.

    What I would recommend is to buy a microfiber mop system and depending on how much tile you have, buy extra microfiber cloths. Then when you clean your floor, and say it’s 500 square feet, I would have at least 3 microfibers alternate them out until you’ve used them all.

    I would also buy a commercial size mop, say 24" size as this will cover more area. I swear to you once you use microfiber you will never you traditional mops or cotton cloths again.
