Why do the homes in Arizona mostly have tile floors instead of carpet, pergo, or wood?

I was thinking maybe they get quite a bit of sand, or dirt. Then I thought.. no, that can’t be it.

    They do get a lot of sand that would ruin Pergo in a hurry and is hard to suck out of carpet. The tile is cooler in the summer (people in colder areas soon find it is colder in winter eroo). Also there is a lot of old Spanish tradition in the use of tile and there was not much wood for flooring.

    Because it gets hot in Arizona and the tile keeps the home much cooler than carpet, wood or pergo.
